The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Launches Computer-Based Examination Identity System
The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, has officially announced the introduction of its Computer-Based Examination Identity System, a major step toward strengthening the integrity and efficiency of its examination processes. The institution disclosed that the system is now fully ready for use by students, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing digital transformation efforts.
This development was made known over the weekend by a staff member of the Polytechnic, who emphasized the institution’s commitment to embracing modern technology in line with global best practices. In a time where digitalization continues to shape various sectors, including education, the Polytechnic is proud to adopt innovative solutions that will improve both administrative processes and student experience.
The Computer-Based Examination Identity System is designed to make the conduct of examinations more seamless, secure, and stress-free for both staff and students. With increasing concerns about examination malpractice in higher institutions, the Polytechnic has taken proactive steps to address one of the most pressing challenges—impersonation during examinations.
It has been observed over time that some students engage in unethical practices such as impersonating their colleagues or even paying others to sit for examinations on their behalf. This troubling trend not only undermines the credibility of academic qualifications but also threatens the integrity of the institution as a whole. In response to this issue, the Polytechnic has developed a system that leverages technology to eliminate such practices and ensure fairness in the examination process.
The newly introduced Examination Identity System is strategically designed to capture and store students’ facial data. During registration, each student’s face is captured and securely onboarded into the system. Following this, an official examination pass is generated for each student. This pass serves as a verified identity document that must be presented before entry into the examination hall.
One of the most notable and innovative features of the system is the integration of a Quick Response (QR) code on the examination pass. This QR code contains essential identity information of the student, which can be accessed instantly. Before gaining entry into the examination hall, students will be required to present their examination passes to the invigilators.
The invigilators, using a dedicated mobile application, will scan the QR code on the pass. Once scanned, the system will display the student’s registered facial data and details, which will then be compared with the physical appearance of the individual presenting the pass. This process ensures that only the legitimate owner of the examination pass is allowed access into the examination venue.
According to the management of the institution, the primary aim of the Computer-Based Examination Identity System is to curb impersonation and other forms of examination malpractice. It is also intended to promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the conduct of examinations. By integrating facial recognition and QR code technology, the Polytechnic is setting a new standard in examination security within the educational sector.
The management further highlighted that the system will significantly reduce the stress often associated with manual verification processes. In the past, verifying the identity of students during examinations could be time-consuming and prone to human error. However, with the introduction of this automated system, verification becomes faster, more accurate, and more reliable.
Students have also been strongly advised to comply with the new system and avoid any attempt to manipulate or forge examination passes. The Polytechnic made it clear that the QR code embedded in each pass is unique and cannot be duplicated without detection. Any student who attempts to forge an examination pass or engage in fraudulent activities will be easily identified through the system.
The institution has warned that such offenders will face strict disciplinary actions in accordance with the school’s rules and regulations. This serves as a deterrent to those who may still consider engaging in examination malpractice, reinforcing the Polytechnic’s zero-tolerance policy toward academic dishonesty.
In addition to enhancing security, the system is also expected to foster a culture of academic responsibility among students. By eliminating shortcuts and dishonest practices, students are encouraged to focus on their studies and prepare adequately for their examinations. The Polytechnic reiterated that success should be based on merit and hard work rather than unethical behavior.
Meanwhile, students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new system and ensure that they complete all necessary registration procedures ahead of their examinations. Adequate preparation, both academically and procedurally, will help students navigate the new process smoothly without unnecessary delays or complications.
The introduction of the Computer-Based Examination Identity System reflects the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti’s dedication to innovation, discipline, and academic excellence. It also demonstrates the institution’s readiness to adapt to emerging technologies in order to provide a more secure and efficient learning environment.
As the Polytechnic continues to move forward in its digital journey, this initiative stands as a clear indication of its commitment to maintaining high standards and safeguarding the value of its certificates. With the successful implementation of this system, both staff and students can look forward to a more credible, transparent, and stress-free examination process.
