NUC Approves 29 Universities To Run Online Degree Programmes
In a bid to curb distance barrier and provide easy accessibility to education, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has confirmed that 29 universities has been officially approved to run online degree programmes.
This welcome development is aimed to widen access to higher education and give students the opportunity to earn their BSc degrees from home.
Authorities confirmed that the approved institutions had met the required standards to deliver quality learning through distance education.
This development was reported as part of the government’s effort to expand access to higher education for people across Nigeria.
According to the NUC, the following universities have been approved to provide online degree programmes in 2026:

University of Maiduguri, Maiduguri
Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola
University of Abuja, Abuja
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
Lagos State University
Joseph Ayo Babalola University
University of Nigeria, Nsukka
Federal University of Technology, Minna
Babcock University, Ilishan
University of Ilorin
Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti
Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye
Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt
Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto
Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Agbani
University of Benin
University of Calabar
University of Port Harcourt
