FG–World Bank TVET IDEAS Initiative Takes Off at BOUESTI, Ikere-Ekiti
The Federal Government through the Ministry of Education (FME), in collaboration with the World Bank, has launched the TVET IDEAS Initiative programme offering Nigerians the opportunity to acquire industry-relevant skills across various areas of interest.
The programme, which is designed to promote professionalism, innovation and entrepreneurship, provides beneficiaries with hands-on training, monthly stipends, employment opportunities, entrepreneurship support, certification and access to professional networks, aimed at boosting economic growth and self-reliance.
Speaking at the opening ceremony held at Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, Ado-Ekiti, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Williams Oluwole Adebayo, expressed appreciation to the Federal Government, the World Bank and the TVET management for extending the initiative to Nigerians.
Professor Adebayo urged participants to take the programme seriously, noting that skills acquisition and innovation are critical to personal development and national progress. He emphasized that the success of the initiative depends largely on the commitment and discipline of the learners.
Meanwhile, Engr Felix Akinsola encouraged the students to embrace the opportunity with gratitude and dedication. He reiterated the standards, rules and regulations guiding the programme and appealed to participants to strictly comply with institutional guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful training process.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor subsequently declared the TVET IDEAS Initiative officially open at BOUESTI, Ikere-Ekiti.
