Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Honours Past Principal Officers in Glowing Ceremony
The Governing Council and Management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti have celebrated several former principal officers of the institution in a colourful and memorable ceremony held in their honour.
According to information released by the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti,
among those honoured at the very colourful and epoch making event are Dr. Taiwo Theresa Akande, two time Rector, Dr. Dayo Hephzibah Oladebeye, the immediate past Rector, Surv. Felix Ajibade, Mr. Afolabi Bamidele, Dr. Augustine Nnamdi Aboloma, Dr. Olusegun David Dada, Deputy Rectors.
Other honoured are Alhaji N.A.T. Alokun, Dr. Emmanuel Olu Ayeni, Polytechnic Librarians, Mr. Elijah Aderemi Onaolapo and Prince John Kehinde Omodara while the late Mrs Stephania Odusade Adediran and Mrs Kehinde Olaitan Ekanem were honoured post humously.
Speaking at the ceremony, the chairperson of the Governing Council, Prof. Ongoebi Maureen Etebu appreciated the past principal officers for their service to the Institution. She added that it is a thing of joy to see that the Institution they once served is still standing strong and growing, describing the formal principal officers as personalities who have left their footprint in the sand of time and prayed that they will live long and continue to enjoy their hard earn labour peacefully.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Rector, Engr. Dr. Temitope John Alake thanked God for the opportunity to celebrate the past principal officers who carried the weight of leadership in their time and season. He noted that leadership is not as simple as it appears and they knew the burdens and the challenges they faced while in office. “No one can truly repay them for their services, time and personal comfort they invested for the good of the Polytechnic” and while they are being celebrated by the Institution, he prayed that God will reward them for all their service to humanity.
Dr. Alake appreciated them for their courage, sacrifice, commitment to peace and progress, as their contribution is part of the foundation upon which others build.
The Rector on the occasion charged staffers to continue to work for the progress of the Institution and choose not to be a clog in the wheels of the Institutions progress, adding that staff must also guard their hearts against being recruited into unnecessary hostility toward their leaders as every administration faces unique challenges.
He therefore assured staff that the Management remains committed to their welfare and overall development of the Polytechnic.
Responding on behalf of the past principal officers, Dr. Taiwo Theresa Akande thanked the Council and Management of the Institution for deeming it necessary to appreciate the past principal officers. She appreciated other past principal officers for their cooperation, support and dedication during their tenures. She described the ceremony as a memorable gesture. She appealed to staff and students to end the spirit of dragging leaders down, while also charging them to join hands with the Council and Management to move the Institution forward.
The event which took place at the Atiku Abubakar Auditorium was attended by Council members, friends and families of the celebrants, staff and students.
