Computer Science Student Breaks New Ground at Ekiti Varsity with Launch of TechHub
Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, has taken a significant step toward a digital-driven future with the launch of its Innovation and Technology Hub, aimed at empowering students with advanced tech skills, encouraging creativity, and supporting entrepreneurship.
The project known as TechHub BOUESTI was conceived and championed by Michael Olukayode (popularly known as Mikaelson), a 400-level Computer Science student. The hub was officially unveiled with full support from the university administration.
During the launch, Olukayode described TechHub BOUESTI as “a springboard for innovation, collaboration, and transformation,” emphasizing that the platform was established to inspire students to dream boldly, build impactful solutions, and prepare for the future of work.
The new hub will function as a learning and incubation center, providing students with access to emerging technologies through hands-on workshops, training programmes, developer communities, and innovation-focused projects. It also aligns with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those promoting quality education, decent employment opportunities, and industry-aligned innovation.
